Over the last year, Kindling Group has focused on how to strategically grow the organization to bring our best selves to our current projects, while also developing the infrastructure to work on new passion projects and grow to our highest potential. A big piece of this, of course, is building our manpower with new staff and board members.

Not long ago, we introduced you to four new board members who had joined the KG ranks. Now, let us introduce you to three more! Here’s what they have to say about “the first time we met…” and why they wanted to be a part of Kindling.

Maria Rosner

“My first encounter with the Kindling Group dates back five years ago, when I saw a screening of The Calling at the Art Institute. I was moved by the film, but it was the panel of speakers who answered questions after the film that made a lasting impression. They were living impactful, meaningful lives, and they invited me to do the same. I had the same experience when I saw @home at the MCA and Radical Grace at the Siskel Center. When the opportunity arose to join the KG board, I felt like I was answering my own calling, to join a team of people whose mission extended beyond the movie-going experience and into the world. I’m honored and excited to help KG continue our mission and to expand their outreach through documentary film.”

“I’m very excited to be joining the Board of Directors at KG. I was introduced to KG’s incredible work after attending a screening of Radical Grace at a Boston University Alumni Event. Not knowing what to expect, I was simply blown away by the impact a handful of feminist nuns could have. But without KG, who else would have been able to promote / produce / start the conversation around their story? To me, that’s the value of KG – giving  underrepresented  and underappreciated groups a voice, and doing so in a meaningful way. I’m most excited about KG’s goal to expand our presence – doing so means more conversations can be ignited. I’m happy to be part of this great organization, and I look forward to helping take it to the next level.”

"I was introduced to Kindling Group through one of its engagement campaigns. I was impressed… it wasn't just storytelling that rested at inspiration or education. It was using storytelling as a tool — moving issues and subject matter along the spectrum from dialogue to action. I wanted in! So I was thrilled to be invited to serve on the Board. I look forward to helping expand the awareness of Kindling Group's mission and body of work, learning more about the intricacies of documentary filmmaking, and doing my part to make a positive impact through this new role."

We’re excited and honored to welcome these three wonderful people to the KG family. To learn more about their professional biographies, visit https://www.kindlinggroup.org/people.
